Maria Theresa Chandeliers

The Maria Theresa form takes its name from the Austrian empress and its character from the crystal-clad arms: each metal arm is sheathed in flat crystal plates fixed with small rosettes, then hung with cut drops. The result is a lighter, more sparkling fixture than a solid-frame chandelier, and a favourite for dining rooms and ballrooms alike. A chandelier is the one fixture a room is arranged around. Ours are built to order in cut crystal, natural alabaster, solid brass and hand-blown glass, in the classic French and Austrian forms and in contemporary rings, lines and cascades. Choose by style, then tell us the ceiling height and the table or room it will serve; we size the drop and the diameter to suit.

How wide should a dining room chandelier be?

A good rule is one half to two thirds of the table width. For a 72-inch table, look at pieces 36 to 48 inches wide. Hang the bottom of the fixture 30 to 34 inches above the table.

What ceiling height does a chandelier need?

For an 8 to 9 ft ceiling choose a piece under about 24 inches tall, or a flush or semi-flush mount. From 10 ft upward, taller two- and three-tier forms work. Every piece can be made shorter or longer on request.

Are bulbs included?

Fixtures with an integrated LED source are supplied complete. Candelabra and medium-base fixtures are supplied without lamps so you can choose colour temperature and dimming; we recommend 2700K dimmable LED.
